What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an important part of a Traditional Chinese Medicine system with a history of over 2,500 years. Traditional Chinese Medicine maintains that life force energy, known as "Qi", flows throughout the body in energy pathways known as 'meridians'. The proper flow of "Qi" is vital to good health. An imbalance of Qi results in pain, dysfunction and, ultimately, disease.

Acupuncture focuses on correcting these imbalances of energy flow by inserting ultra-thin disposable needles under the skin to stimulate specific points of the body. Stimulation unblocks the channels and encourages an even flow of Qi, restoring the body's balance and relieving pain and other symptoms.

Acupuncture can strengthen the physical body, prevent disease, control pain, calm the mind, and enhance and restore health.

Our office utilizes Electro Meridian Imaging (EMI), which is a non-invasive tool to measure 12 of the body's meridians. It also allows for follow-up testing to monitor the improvement from treatment and to guide treatment as care progresses. Patients enjoy this testing and find it a valuable part of care in our office.

We only use disposable single-use needles, so clean needle technique is assured for each and every treatment. Also, for patients who wish for non-needle treatment, a laser or other stimulating device is incorporated into their care. We also offer cupping and Gua Sha.

Most patients find their acupuncture session comfortable and relaxing, as well as enjoyable and effective.
